Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra VS Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max: Battle of Flagships

-

Well, we have seen Apple and Samsung’s launching their flagship devices and both handsets pack some real power. Although these powerhouses might be appealing to use, they are quite expensive, even after all the offers they are bundled out with. Let’s compare Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max and list out the differences and similar points between them.

Display and Design:

Both smartphone makers follow their own style when it comes to design, the South Korean Giant has made its flagship device with a curved display and box design while Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max features a flat display along with curved edges. The S23 Ultra is equipped with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display while the iPhone 14 Pro Max comes with a 6.7-inch XDR OLED screen.

These handsets come with an LTPO screen with a 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate. The S23 Ultra has a higher screen-to-body ratio with an Infinity notch, while Apple offers Dynamic Island on its iPhone 14 Pro Max. The S23 Ultra weighs 234 grams with its aluminum frame, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max with stainless steel frame weighs 240 grams. These flagship devices are IP68 certified and offer dust and water resistance up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes on Galaxy S23 Ultra and up to 6 meters on iPhone 14 Pro.

Processor and Storage:

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is powered by a customized Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset coupled with 12GB of RAM and offers up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. The iPhone 14 Pro Max comes with its in-house A16 Bionic Chipset with 1TB of NVMe storage. There is also 6GB of RAM that supports the new chipset.

Camera and Battery:

These flagship devices come with improved sensors on their back with the South Korean Giant providing a 200MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor on its S23 Ultra. The secondary sensor is a 12MP ultra-wide camera while there are two telephoto lenses. On the other hand, the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max comes with a triple camera setup, the primary sensor being a 48MP camera. There is also a 12MP telephoto lens and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor accompanying the main camera. On the front, both the handsets feature a 12MP sensor.

While coming to the battery, the iPhone 14 Pro Max comes with a 4323 mAh battery with 20W wired charging. The S23 Ultra comes with 5000 mAh is offered with 45W wired charging speeds which is clearly much faster than its counterpart. These companies do not offer chargers in the box, which has to be purchased separately. Furthermore, the S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max support 15W wireless charging speeds.

Price and availability:

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is priced at $1199 in the U.S. and already going for pre-orders. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is also priced the same at $1099 and is already available in the market.

Since both the phones are flagship devices of their respective company and there isn’t much of a difference in the pricing as well. It is pretty hard to pick one smartphone and announce it as a winner as one runs on the Android Platform and the other on iOS. Choosing one among these, totally depends on the user and their level of comfort using these handsets.
