The South Korean Giant – Samsung has announced a major update to its AI assistant Bixby. The new update brings many new advanced features and customization options that include the Bixby Text Call feature in English. Well, this new Text call feature in English was only available in Korean earlier. This will enable the users to answer calls from anywhere just by typing a message.
Back in October 2022, Samsung updated its Bixby along with the One UI 5.0 but it was available only in Korean. Now, the update will be available in English with the release of the One UI 5.1 software update. The phones that support the new feature are the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and a few more.
Once the new update rolls out, the users can answer a call just by typing a text, which the AI assistant will convert into audio and play it to the caller. Furthermore, the are other features along with the update that brings customization options to the users. It enables users to record various sentences that Bixby will analyze to make an AI version of their voice and tone. This feature is already available in Korean and the English version should be rolling out soon.
More changes like support for a custom wake-up phrase in settings, functionality options like playing music depending on the type of exercise in Samsung Health or even saving schedules in Calendar. Furthermore, Bixby’s on-device AI support is getting an expansion that allows users to run key commands even when they are offline. The users can ask Bixby to set a timer and take a screenshot or even turn on the flashlight.
