In the clamouring race of the foldable smartphone market, Motorola is expected to soon release a new entrant, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, a successor to the Moto Razr 2022. This impending addition, likely to be christened Motorola Razr+ or Motorola Razr 2023 in select regions, promises to add another milestone to Motorola’s iconic Razr lineage.

Rumours about the new device were ignited by its sighting on the Geekbench benchmarking platform and China’s Compulsory Certification (3C) websites, hinting at potential specifications. A recent tweet by reputable tipster SnoopyTech (@snoopytech) provided a substantial leap, divulging the complete specifications of the anticipated foldable.

As per the leaked image shared by SnoopyTech, the Razr 40 Ultra will boast a glossy exterior in three vivid hues – Infinite Black, Glacier Blue, and Viva Magenta. Seemingly, the device will only be available in an 8GB + 256GB configuration, striking a balance between power and storage.

Motorola Razr 40 Ultra leak reveals large, customisable cover displayThe upcoming device’s most touted feature is an industry-leading external display. The Razr 40 Ultra’s competitors, Oppo Find N2 Flip and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, flaunt 3.25-inch and 3.4-inch external screens respectively. However, Motorola seems poised to outdo them with a larger 3.6-inch pOLED external panel, boasting a 144Hz refresh rate and a robust Corning Gorilla Glass shield.

As for the inner display, the Razr 40 Ultra is expected to incorporate a 6.9-inch full-HD+ (2220 x 1080 pixels) pOLED screen, featuring a 165Hz refresh rate, a 22:9 aspect ratio, and HDR10+ support. Fueled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 5G SoC octa-core processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of non-expandable storage, it promises smooth performance and ample space for files. The dual nano-SIM phone is expected to run on the stock Android 13 operating system.

The camera specs, as listed in the leak, reveal a dual rear camera setup with a 12-megapixel sensor (OIS supported) and a 13-megapixel sensor coupled with an ultra-wide macro lens. A 32-megapixel sensor is likely to serve as the front camera, offering crisp selfies and video calls.

Backing the device is a 3,800mAh battery, supportive of 33W wired fast charging and 5W wireless fast charging. With an IP52 rating, the Razr 40 Ultra offers a degree of dust and water resistance. Security-wise, the device equips a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Connectivity features include 5G, WiFi 6E, NFC, and GPS, and it utilises a USB Type-C port for charging.

Physical dimensions are projected to be 170.83mm x 73.85mm x 6.99mm when unfolded and 88.42mm x 73.95mm x 15.1mm when folded, giving it a sleek and pocketable form. With a weight of 188 grams, it ensures a comfortable grip. As per a previous leak, the smartphone could retail at SAR 3,999 (approximately Rs. 88,400).

All in all, with its promising specifications, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is anticipated to escalate the competition in the foldable smartphone market. As we eagerly await official confirmation, these leaks paint a vivid picture of an exciting technological marvel soon to unfold.
