Asus has launched two gaming smartphones, the ROG Phone 7 and the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, both designed to provide a seamless gaming experience. While the ROG Phone 7 is a newer model, let’s compare its features with its predecessor ROG Phone 6 which was launched almost a year back, and see how they stack up with each other. As we know both handsets are gaming devices, and they use powerful cooling systems as they get heated up while playing games.

Both the ROG Phone 7 and the ROG Phone 6 offer a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, with a resolution of 1080 x 2448 pixels. However, the ROG Phone 7 boasts a higher pixel density of 395ppi, providing sharper and more vivid visuals. The ROG Phone 7 also features a triple-camera setup, with a 64MP primary camera, a 13MP camera, and a 5MP lens. The ROG Phone 6, on the other hand, offers a 50MP primary camera, a 13MP camera, and a 5MP camera. The latest device comes with a 32MP selfie camera while the older model offers just 12MP camera on the front.

The ROG Phone 7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, while the ROG Phone 6 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor. The ROG Phone 7 boasts up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of ultra-fast UFS 4.0 ROM storage, while the ROG Phone 6 offers up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
Both smartphones run on the latest Android operating system, with the ROG Phone 7 running on v13 and the ROG Phone 6 on v12. Both smartphones come with a 6000mAh battery, with the ROG Phone 7 supporting a 65W (30W for India) fast-charging system and the ROG Phone 6 also supporting a 65W fast-charging system.
Storage and Connectivity:
The ROG Phone 7 offers 256GB of internal storage, while the ROG Phone 6 offers 256GB of internal storage as well. However, the ROG Phone 7 does not have an option to expand its storage, while the ROG Phone 6 comes with a microSD card slot for expandable storage. Both smartphones offer 5G connectivity, but the ROG Phone 7 features Bluetooth v5.2, Wi-Fi 802.11, Mobile Hotspot, USB Type-C, and A-GPS connectivity, while the ROG Phone 6 comes with 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G LTE. Both the devices come with a fingerprint sensor on-screen, and USB Type-C port.
Verdict:
Both the Asus ROG Phone 7 and the ROG Phone 6 are powerful gaming smartphones, with similar display and rear camera features. However, the ROG Phone 7 boasts a more powerful chipset, and also being the latest device, it should also come with launch offers. There isn’t much to differentiate between these two devices, so it’s completely the user’s preference which they would choose.
