Samsung’s Second Galaxy Unpacked Event 2023: New Timeline and Expected Products

-

Samsung has been making waves since its first Galaxy Unpacked event of the year on February 1, where it unveiled the flagship Galaxy S23 series. Now, the South Korean tech giant is reported to be working on a new lineup of devices for a second Galaxy Unpacked event, likely to be held in the latter half of the year. A new report by SamMobile suggests the probable timeline for the event, and we’re here to break down what you can expect.

An Earlier Date for the Second Galaxy Unpacked Event?

According to SamMobile, the second Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event could be held between July 25 and July 27, a couple of weeks earlier than its usual August timeline. This shift could be due to Samsung’s competitor, Google, introducing its first-ever foldable smartphone, the Pixel Fold, at the Google I/O event on May 10.

Anticipated Devices at the Second Galaxy Unpacked Event

The second Galaxy Unpacked event is speculated to see the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldable smartphones. Samsung Electronics is reportedly starting mass production of foldable phone hinges in early June, which supports the earlier-than-expected July launch date.

In addition to the foldable smartphones, Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Watch 6 series and the Galaxy Tab S9 series. The Galaxy Watch 6 series is anticipated to have significant improvements over its predecessor, while the Galaxy Tab S9 lineup will likely include the base Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and the high-end Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.

Competition with Google’s Pixel Fold

Google’s first-ever foldable smartphone, the Pixel Fold, is expected to be introduced at the Google I/O event on May 10. The foldable will reportedly be available for pre-order on the Google Store immediately, with a probable shipping date of June 27. Other carriers will likely open pre-booking for the device on May 30, and Google is expected to offer a free Pixel Watch to customers who pre-order the phone. This competitive move by Google might be the reason for Samsung moving its second Unpacked event forward.
